MIVAC is a system for producing information visualizations
with embedded statistical and data mining algorithms. It uses
the Dimensional Anchor model of visualizations which can
actually create totally new visualizations, in addition to
including includes standard and custom visualization techniques.
The standard visualizations include:
- parallel coordinates
- scatterplot
- scatterplot matrices
- survey plots
- star plots
- Andrews plots
- line graphs
- circle segments
Standard analytic tools associated with the standard visualizations
in use today include Neural Networks, Kohonen Maps, Genetic
Algorithms and a wide variety of clustering techniques and classifiers.
The custom visualizations include RadViz (point layout based on spring
forces concept), multilane, and interpolated visualizations using
the dimensional anchor.
MIVAC also provides support for data probing, batch mode
and visualization output to standard picture formats, statistical
visualization evaluation (objective measures of visualization),
color scale selection for distinguishing any dimension/variate of
the dataset, flexibility in selection and arrangement of the
various dimensions of the data and visualization grand tours
for a large subset of dimensional anchor visualizations.
