-- AnVil Informatics, Inc. has announced the appointment of Allan M.
Green, M.D.,Ph.D.,J.D. and Frank Hurley, Ph.D. to its Board of Directors.
Dr. Allan M. Green is currently Vice President of Pharmaceutical / Biomedical
Products for ML Strategies and he is Of Counsel to the law firm Mintz, Levin,
Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. He is also a director of North American
Scientific, Inc., a publicly traded company involved in the development and sales
of brachytherapy sources for cancer treatment. Dr. Green is a director of
NEUROCHEM, Inc. and Select Therapeutics, Inc. Previously he was the Medical
Director of New England Nuclear / DuPont Medical Products.
Dr. Frank Hurley was a co-founder of Biometric Research Institute (later known
as BRI International) where he held a position of Chairman and Chief Scientific
Officer until BRI's merger with Quintiles Transnational Corporation
(NasdaqNM:QTRN). He served as Quintiles Chief Scientific Officer and currently
is holding a position of Senior Scientist. He is also an Adjunct Professor of
Biostatistics and Epidemiology at Georgetown University.
AnVil's President and Chief Executive Officer Howard Berke commented: "We

Dr. Green is a founder of Microfluidics International Corporation and
NEUROCHEM, Inc. and has been actively involved in several other start-up
ventures in the pharmaceutical industry. Dr. Green has substantial high-level
operational and consulting experience in pharmaceutical industry. He authored
many scientific papers in biochemistry and drug development and has organized
a number of multi-disciplinary conferences on healthcare, pharmaceutical and
funding issues.
Dr. Green received his S.B. in Economics and Ph.D. in Biochemistry and
Metabolism from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received his
M.D from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and his J.D.
from Boston College Law School.
Dr. Hurley's areas of expertise include the study design, analysis and reporting to
the FDA of clinical trials involving pharmaceuticals, medical devices and
diagnostic products. He has a keen understanding of all phases of the regulatory
approval process, including multinational clinical studies, clinical trials
management and post marketing surveillance. He is a nationally recognized
authority on research strategy and study design for regulatory approval.
Dr. Hurley received his BS in Mathematics from Georgetown University and his
Ph.D. in Biostatistics from John Hopkins University.
Drs. Green and Hurley are joining the existing Board members: Howard Berke,
AnVil's founding CEO and Joseph McGuirl.
Howard Berke, AnVil's founding CEO, is a veteran in launching technology-
oriented startups. He has been the founder/co-founder of seven start-up
companies, some of which are publicly traded. Most recently, he was Chairman,
CEO and President of White Pine Software (NasdaqNM: WPNE). He is familiar
with every step throughout a company's growth, from concept stage to capital
raising, from strategic partnership to IPO or acquisition. Mr. Berke has served as
Chairman, CEO, President, Vice President and/or Board member with various
high-growth start-ups. His industry involvement has spanned into medical
device, healthcare, biotechnology, software and communications markets.
Joseph McGuirl , member of Board of Directors, is a seasoned executive from
the health care industry. He is currently the Executive Director overseeing the
technology licensing and commercialization efforts on the various UMass
systems campuses. Through his previous positions, he has developed extensive
knowledge and developed strong relationships with large and small companies
throughout the healthcare industry. He established and served as Vice
Chairman of HealthCare Ventures in New Jersey. For over 25 years, Mr.
McGuirl held key executive positions in several pharmaceutical companies. He
was the president and CEO at ScripTech Pharmaceuticals in Cambridge, MA.
Before that, he was a business development executive at Hoffmann-LaRoche
and W.R. Grace, leading a variety of licensing and corporate development
activities.
